The Notre Dame Varsity football team defeated the Centennial Centaurs 42-14 on Thursday night in Coquitlam. The victory put the Jugglers at 1-0 in league play and 4-0 overall on the 2022 season.

The Jugglers started quickly as linebacker Andrea Ferronato intercepted a Centennial pass and returned it to their 30-yard line. On Notre Dame's first play from scrimmage, running back Eathen Knutson ran in for the touchdown around left end. A two-point conversion run by Kyle Torresan made the score 8-0 Notre Dame.

Typical Notre Dame defense was instrumental all evening in pressuring the Centennial offense.

Offensively, the Jugglers put together a dominant drive late in the 1st quarter, this time running back Zack White taking it in from 5 yards out. This made the score 14-0 with the conversion blocked by Centennial.

Notre Dame's third touchdown was scored by QB Max Brougham as he wedged it in from the 1-yard line. The conversion by Torresan made the score 21-0 Jugglers.

In the 3rd quarter, Centennial closed to within two touchdowns as they scored on a passing play deep down the middle of the Notre Dame defense. The Jugglers immediately responded with a beautiful 40-yard pass from Brougham to split end Sal Renzullo. This made the score 28-7 ND.

Three 4th quarter touchdowns rounded out the scoring, two by Notre Dame and one by Centennial. The Jugglers scored on a brilliant 80-yard run by Knutson and a pick 6 interception by linebacker Isaiah Picariello, while the Centaurs hit on a big pass play for their 4th quarter score.

Coach Kelly:

We played with spirit and physicality throughout the game and were full value for the win. Kudos to the players for a complete and dominant performance. Next Friday we face another big test when we play Carson Graham, a team noted for its high-powered offense.

Game time on October 7th is 3:15pm on Juggler Field.
