The Notre Dame varsity football team suffered their second loss of the season as they came up on the short end of a 10-7 decision to South Delta on Friday night at Burnaby Lake.

The Jugglers started quickly with some big gains on the ground by Zack White and Eathen Knutson. QB Max Brougham finished the drive with a 10-yard touchdown run. Kyle Torresan's extra point made it 7-0 Notre Dame.

In the second quarter, the Jugglers recovered a South Delta fumble and drove the ball all the way to the Sun Devil 1 yard line. However, they were stopped at the goalline and South Delta proceeded to march all the way to the Notre Dame 5-yard line, using up much of the second quarter clock. They settled for a short field goal, and the half ended 7-3 Jugglers.

In the second half, South Delta used a consistent ground game to again dominate the time of possession. They finally scored a touchdown with about six minutes left in the game, going ahead 10-7. The Jugglers got the ball with about three minutes remaining and again drove all the way down field to the Sun Devil one yard line. A fourth down stop by South Delta ended the game and left the Notre Dame faithful disappointed. The Jugglers are now 3-2 in league play and will face Vancouver College next Saturday at VC beginning at 1:30pm. This is a league game, as well as for the prestigious Archbishop's Cup.

Coach Kelly:

We were certainly disappointed with the way the game ended tonight, but we are still in good shape regarding the post-season. The VC game next Saturday presents a great opportunity for us to enter the playoffs on a high note.
