Jan 11 Athletics Update

Jan 11, 2023

Ms. Schaper-kotter | NDRS

Congratulations to the Grade 9 Boys Basketball team who finished 2nd in the Cap U tournament this past week, and congratulations to the Grade 8 Boys who made the semi-final of the tournament. Good luck to both teams as they take on Saint Georges at Saint Georges this Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 and 5pm.

And, good luck to the Grade 9 Boys who compete in their Juggler Classic this weekend at Notre Dame. Their first game is on Friday at 3pm versus Charles Tupper – make sure you come out and support!

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball team who defeated West Van Secondary in a nail-biter final at our very own Juggler Classic tournament. The girls competed with grit and determination, pulling off a three-point victory against Quad A West Van.

Players of the games throughout the tournament included Emily Chan and Ella Ungemach. Tournament All-Star was awarded to Kaitlyn Chan and the Most Valuable Player of the tournament was awarded to Maecon Glifonea. A huge thanks to all of you who came out to support the girls and to our awesome scorekeepers who spent many hours in the gym over the three-day tournament.

Congratulations to the Junior Girls’ basketball team who battled hard in their Juggler Classic tournament, finishing 4th overall. Players of the games included Peyton Cagampan, Emily Mayne, Isabella Sorace and Joanna Pepe. Tournament All-Star was awarded to Emmy Panzetta

Good luck to the Wrestling team as they head to Terry Fox on Friday for their first tournament of the season!

And good luck to both the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Basketball teams as they compete in BC Catholics this week. The tournament starts today with the Varsity Girls playing Immaculata at 3pm this afternoon at Holy Cross, and then the Varsity Boys playing St Ann’s at 4:30 right after that. As always, keep it locked on the ND Athletics Instagram for schedule and updates.

And now, your Athlete of the Week goes to a Varsity Girls Basketball player who made some noise this past weekend at the Juggler Classic tournament, being named the Most Valuable Player of the very competitive tournament.

We can’t wait to see what she accomplishes this week at BC Catholics and throughout the rest of the season! Congratulations to Maecon Glifonea!
