Dear Notre Dame Families, As we head into another busy beautiful autumn weekend, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for our incredible Notre Dame community. We are truly blessed with dedicated staff who coach, support, teach, guide and mentor our students. From our student vote, to the crepe truck visit next week, our staff provide opportunities for authentic learning and development of the whole person. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and the energy they bring to school is our blessing. Here are a few important updates and highlights from this week: Grade 9 Retreat Our Grade 9 students kicked off the week by traveling to Timberline for their yearly retreat. This special day focused on the core theme of Love, exploring how we receive love, how we extend it to one another, and how God’s love for us forms the foundation of our Notre Dame community. It was a beautiful time of team-building, fun, reflection, and prayer for our students as they continue their journey together as the class of 2030. Celebrating Our Diversity October is Multicultural Month, and it was wonderful to see our halls filled with vibrant colors and traditional attire for today’s Cultural Dress Day. Thank you to all our students and staff who participated and for Care Collective’s organization. This day was a beautiful reflection of the diverse cultures, traditions, and backgrounds that enrich our Catholic school community. Athletics & Student Life It has been an incredibly active week for Notre Dame student life! Our football, volleyball, swimming, soccer, and field hockey teams were all active during this short four-day week. A huge congratulations and thank you to all of our student-athletes and coaches for their hard work and dedication on and off the court/field this week. Tuesday is our fall sports pep rally and assembly. All teams will be recognized and we will have a special focus on our Girls Volleyball team as they head into Catholics week. Keep up the great momentum! Go Jugglers! Upcoming Events Oktoberfest (Tomorrow Night!): A quick reminder that our highly anticipated Oktoberfest event takes place tomorrow evening, Saturday, October 17. I want to extend a massive thank you to the volunteers, organizers, and sponsors who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to put this wonderful community event together. Our talented Notre Dame musicians will be performing their "Arachnophobia" concert this Tuesday, October 20. We invite all families to come out, enjoy the music, and support our wonderful band program. Senior Girls Volleyball Catholics: As proud host of this great Catholic school tradition, we welcome seven of our fellow Catholic schools to campus Wednesday and Thursday. Games begin Wednesday at noon with the championship game Thursday. Check our athletics Instagram page for scores and updates. Notre Dame Open House (October 27): Our annual Open House is just around the corner on Tuesday, October 27. If you know of any prospective families, neighbors, or friends who are considering Notre Dame for their child's education, please encourage them to attend and experience what makes our school so unique. Dear Notre Dame Families, Happy Thanksgiving! Today we celebrated the votive mass of Our Lady of Lourdes. This was a beautiful reminder of our devotion to our Holy Mother, the Patroness of our school. This past Sunday, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi was celebrated at our feeder parish, St. Francis of Assisi. We take this time to acknowledge their 90-year celebration with gratitude for the many years of support for our school community. May God continue to bless St. Francis of Assisi in their ministry to our school and diocese. Community & School Recap This week, all Band Students in all grades received workshops and masterclasses on their chosen instrument with invited professional flutists, clarinetists, saxophonists, trumpeters, trombonists and percussionists. This provided specialized assistance and skill development, ahead of eight ambitious performances for the Notre Dame Senior Concert Band in late October. The October 20th Fall themed Concert, entitled Arachnophobia, is also being performed at the October 27 Open House and six CISVA Elementary Schools. Included is a special setting of Schubert’s Ave Maria, an important work for the Catholic Community. A special shout out to our Senior Boys Soccer team, who competed at the BC Catholics yesterday and today. After round robin play, their success seeded them in the final vs. Archbishop Carney. Although they didn’t come out with the victory, we are proud of the boys and thankful to Mr. Pavan and Mr. Wright for coaching and supporting the team. Upcoming Events Please take a moment to review the school calendar for important dates, retreats, activities, performances, athletics, and upcoming events. Please use the link HERE to purchase your Oktoberfest tickets. Please continue to sell and support our PSG raffle tickets. The Grand Prize Final Draw is Friday, November 6. Every dollar raised supports student activities. Our Open House is early this year, October 27. Feel free to encourage your friends, family and extended community to join us and learn more about our school and the application process. Important Reminders for Students/Parents As the weather begins to change, we begin to plan for our formal dress code implementation. This year and moving forward, the date for formal dress code to begin is the first day of school following Halloween. This year it is November 2 (All Souls Day). Formal dress code will be in effect until the first day of school after Easter. Students are welcome to dress in summer or formal until October 31. Thank you for ensuring your child has all the items required for formal dress code. This can be found on our school website. May God bless you and your family this Thanksgiving. Enjoy your Monday together. Mrs. Andrea Prout-Bernett Principal

Dear Notre Dame Families, Happy Friday! As we come to the end of another busy week at ND and begin the month of October, I want to take a moment to thank our students, staff, and families for the energy and commitment they continue to bring to our school community. It has been wonderful to see our students in the classroom, at morning choir and band, and participating as members of volleyball, football, soccer, field hockey and cross country teams this week. Getting involved in the many clubs and groups makes Notre Dame such a special place. As a Catholic school community, we are continually reminded that in our work together we are helping our young people to Know, Love and Serve. Yesterday was a perfect example of this. Our Grade 8 students, along with volunteers from Grades 9 and 12, were on retreat. We are thankful to OLS for hosting us for a day focused on KNOW. Together our students explored the relationships they have with themselves, each other and God. They celebrated Mass together as the class of 2031 and participated in small and large group activities. This foundational retreat sets the stage for the next 5 years together. Our next retreat will be for our Grade 9 students on October 13. The focus of this retreat will be LOVE. Thank you for supporting your children in the development of their faith through our retreat program. Community & School Recap Thank you to our parents and guardians for your continued support of our students and our school. I enjoyed meeting you at Meet the Teacher, Homecoming, and as volunteers and spectators. Your partnership with our staff is an important part of creating a welcoming and successful learning environment. You may have noticed our activity on social media has increased over the past few weeks! We are pleased to announce the addition of Mr. Nicholas Greco, ND ‘21, to our staff as Director of Communications. Nicholas will be coordinating our web presence, social media, and overall communications with the greater community. Welcome to Nicholas, and keep updated by following @ndrsjugglers on Instagram. Upcoming Events Please take a moment to review the school calendar HERE for important dates, retreats, activities, performances, athletics, and upcoming events. Please use the link HERE to purchase your Oktoberfest tickets. This event is open to everyone in our community, alumni, future families, and current families. Please continue to sell and support our PSG raffle tickets. Every dollar raised supports student activities. Important Reminders for Students/Parents Thank you to those students and families who are arriving at school at 8:15. We continue to see many students arriving late. Students who arrive after 8:25 will be late to class, as they need some time to go to lockers, unload, use the restrooms, etc. We encourage families to begin leaving 10 minutes earlier than previous years. This ensures any traffic issues will not impact learning. Have a wonderful and restful weekend! God Bless, Mrs. Andrea Prout-Bernett Principal

Traffic Reminders A reminder to all parents that drop off and pick up along Venables Street or Parker Street should be done on the school side of the street only. Parking on the opposite side of the street can be very dangerous. When students are dropped off or picked up on the opposite side of the street, it is strongly advised that they cross the street at a crosswalk (Venables and Renfrew) or at the corner (Parker and Renfrew). As well, please avoid blocking the entrance/exit to the staff parking lot. Students or parents attempting to cross in the middle of the street may receive respectful reminders not to do so. Parents are asked to cooperate with our traffic parent volunteers as they are doing their best to keep all our students safe. Drop-off must, in no way, include stopping on, in front of, or across the street from the fire hall property at the west end of the street. We have received concerns from the fire hall that parents have been stopping and, at times, parking in that area before and after school. As well, please avoid stopping on or directly in front of any of our neighborhood business establishments. It is in our best interest to maintain positive relationships with all who live or work near the school. Finally, a reminder that the staff parking lot is not available to students and parents during school days from 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Please be advised that unauthorized vehicles may be towed. We thank you for your understanding and your anticipated cooperation with respect to these important reminders. Please refer to the School Handbook on our website for further reminders related to drop-off before and after school. Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education here at Notre Dame. Our staff looks forward to working with you and welcoming your child this September. Please do not hesitate to react out to me anytime using my email address: principal@myndrs.com God Bless you and your family, Mrs. Prout-Bernett Principal
- Class of 2031: The Journey Begins
The above event is for students only. Parents and Guardians, we look forward to meeting you at Meet the Teacher night on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026. We will also hold an information Zoom session on August 27 - meeting details will be sent out closer to the date.
- School Approved Sweaters & Crewnecks
Dear Parents, There seems to be some confusion regarding school-approved and non-approved sweaters and crewnecks. My apologies if that has not been made clear to some of you. The following includes the approved school items that students can wear as part of their uniform: Crewnecks purchased at the online ND Store (Martket) are not part of the school uniform. They can only be worn on Juggler or dress down days. The approved navy and grey crewnecks can only be purchased at school. Finally, the school has implemented a no jacket policy in class. Students are asked to leave their jackets (including hoodies or non-school sweaters) in their lockers or tucked away in their bags. As the weather gets colder, it is highly advised that all students purchase and wear one of the four approved sweaters and crewnecks pictured above.
- Traffic Concerns: Safety Over Convenience
Parents, We understand with the road work being done in the surrounding neighborhood, drop- off and pick-up becomes more challenging. With that said we must still be cognizant of the 30km/hr speed limit around the school. We have had concerns raised by neighbors that parents are driving too fast in and around the school in the morning and afternoon. The safety of all children and the neighbours must be our first priority. Drop off and pick up (8 am to 5 pm) along Venables Street or Parker Street should be done on the school side of the street only and not exceed 5 minutes. We have been informed by the City of Vancouver that parking for any longer than 6 minutes during these posted hours may result in the driver receiving a ticket. Dropping students off on the opposite side of the street can be very dangerous. When students are dropped off or picked up on the opposite side of the street, it is strongly advised that they cross the street at a crosswalk (Venables and Renfrew) or at the corner (Parker and Renfrew). It has been noted that with the road construction in the are there has been an increase in double parking and letting students out in the middle of the street. Please note this is a city violation that increases the risk of accidents and should be always avoided. We appreciate your time is valuable and school drop-off and pick-up can be a frustrating experience. But we cannot use either as an excuse to create a dangerous situation. Regardless of the circumstance, safety will always be more important than convenience. We thank you for your understanding and your anticipated cooperation with respect to this important reminder.
